Refresher

Spring riding in the mountains is a mixed bag and sometimes very non-motivational. Still plenty of snow keeping the trails buried so only road riding for now and the daily weather being a little bit of everything makes you become a frustrated but prepared road rider. Sometimes like this...entering GTNP
but equally like this...rainy day.

Last week we went and got some of this...hurrrah pass...red dirt, bright sunshine, and big smiles... huuurrraaay! Our trip to Moab was fantastic. Kept it simple and camped out at Sand Flats road allowing for several days of riding out of camp without having to start the truck. Spinning our traveling legs out at Fins n Things was the perfect reminder of what fun Moab riding is. I don't get tired of the typical rides down there because I only get to do them but once or twice a year. After not being on any technical trails in over 6 months riding Slick Rock will quickly help you regain confidence immediatly, and those short steep bursts are so positive and fun.  A lap on Pocipine Rim reminded me of how fast you really can go on such a loose mixed ledgy surface and the technical moves involved in cleaning the initial climb and the exit down the rim suit my fancy. Of course we had to do the Jackson Hole loop (spring race course), Im not sure if it's because the name or the portage up to the rim.J-hole Portage
We did a nice late day loop out at Gemni Bridges on one of our dually ride days and even spoiled ourselves with a wondeful road ride in perfect conditions out to Dead Horse.
Also, learned about Mill Creek which "Burns" was so happy for.burns mill creek

A great time indeed. The refresher was over due and am already thinking, planning for the next.

I remember the race loop. It's kinda fun in a weird way. Glad you guys had such a good time in the desert.

You ever considered Crush the Commonwealth as a fun race/ride? Around 400 miles of mixed road & gravel across Pennsylvania. "Winners" pull it of in around 45 hours unsupported.
