there is always a lot going on. I fumble often thinking what to blog about specifically when there is so much to say, but what is it I exactly want to share. Anyway here are a few things that been keeping me (us) busy... when not in the dog house...
Running, yep, that's right running with some strength hopping type stuff. It's the quick go to with the short days and a great way to get "The Boys" out. It acts as a nice cross training too. While we are in limbo of seasons and knowing it is only going to be a short time before we are doing all sorts of skiing and snow riding I really enjoy it. I actually was a runner per say for a few years logging many trail miles and a few ultra events, sort of miss it sometimes.
Also been riding, mainly the Alma 29er on the gravel roads in the valley. The last injury made it obvious to me that I must ride a bike at least a couple times a week for my mental state and now to keep the annoying itches I get in my knees away. Does this mean I am getting older...
The cross scene is still happening amongst my wife and friends, so being around and part of that has been fun too! I've yet to race a real cross race on a real cross bike, maybe it's the sport I will never do, maybe I just use that part of the year as paying back with volunteering and supporting, maybe I can stay healthy and try it in 2010, or maybe not and just do some real big ride that burns my last match for the season...
Been thinking about next year's racing schedule quite a bit. It's shaping up to be a real mixed bag, should be hitting ultra's in all forms. Snow, MTB, road and tandem. Dropped my Trans Iowa post card in the mail, along with one for Tracey. Going to try for Leadville 100 (tandem), with a very high standard set but for now I can't get my mind off another year in the UltraSport.
By the way, drilled those Fat Sheba rims with a 1 1/4" hole saw and lost about 200 grams per rim. Built the front on a 100mm White Industries non-disk hub and the rear is going on a Hadley 160. This years new fat bike is shaping up to be sweeeet!
The clavical has taken a huge leap forward and I am on the last 10% or so of recovery, which takes the longest, but I am no longer compromising it's use.
Good Day.

Trans Iowa! Nice. That'll be a good challenge. Tandem?JayP said on November 26, 2009 at 2:53 PM
Kid, we will see how the Iditabike treats us the month prior. We both got in so well see...no woman finishers...no tandem finishers...we are thinking both solo for now. Big road trip coming from Idaho, regardless.
