Tomorrow, Tracey and I will be lining up for the Alaska Ultra Sport. You will be able to follow our progress on the "Leader Board", get the most recent trail gossip through the "Latest News" and leave messages on the "Message Board" that we will be able to check in on every so often or not so often. We do come across a computer here and there and I hope to give a update personally on this website and/or a blurp on facebook, which I recently gave into. There is also a podcast, at MTBCast.com, that we will be calling into from the trail where you can listen to our voice recordings of what we have been experincing and currently feel like.
This will be my fourth year on the trail, going to McGrath (350 miles) and Tracey's second. I have won once and tied for second twice. Tracey was the first woman last year and was second overall, as we traveled together. This year we are not planning on traveling together till we reach McGrath where we will reunite and take on the challenge of the full route to Nome, 1100 miles.
Am I nervous? Yes. I have attempted the full route once before with failure. To be able to share this experince with Tracey is not only going to make it more enjoyable but her positive attitude, strong will and big smile will be what gets us there.
I am not sure where to start to Thank everyone that has been involved and I know I will be leaving some out (sorry) but here it goes:
Chain Reaction Cycles, Salsa Cycles, MTB Tandems, Slime, WTB, Crank Brothers, Priceton Tech, Carousel Designs, Tram Bar, Zeal Optics, Montbell, RBH Designs, Vicious Cycles, Fitzgeralds Bicycles, Berghaus, Crescent Moon and a special thanks to the Byer's and Fitzy's for watching our boys and Janelle and Matt for being such great hosts while in Anchorage.
Well, I have to get to bed as I have a race to start and a vacation to enjoy. I appreciate everyone who follows. Thanks again, we will be thinking of everyone that has been in our lives while on the trail for the next few weeks.
Cheers!
